MASTER’S DEGREE THESIS - Restoring vine growing, Cinque terre ITALY
The management and protection of the terroir of Sciacchetrà. Gis Comparative analysis with Douro Valley Metodology (Unesco). Published on “Geomatic Workbook” n°11 and exhibited at XIX Meeting GrassGIS and Genoa Gfoss (2013).
Based on documents and interviews with some wine producers, the Sciacchetrà terroir’s specific features have been analyzed, as well as the criteria to identify the best environmental and infrastructural conditions for vine growing. Using GIS, such features have been definied and they have identified the areas wich have the most potential for successfully restoring vine growing, both from the quality and from the quantity point of view. According to this classification, some solutions have been proposed for slope restoration, following the example of the Douro valley methodology for Porto wine’s terroir.
